In 2026, AFNOR will celebrate its centennial. One hundred years of commitment to voluntary standards, fostering trust among economic stakeholders, and shaping markets. One hundred years, too, of international outreach, which is gaining momentum today with the reelection of Guy Maugis, now Chairman of the AFNOR Group.
On June 22, 2026, the French Standards Association celebrated this anniversary at the Institut de France, surrounded by its employees, partners, clients, and prominent figures from the business world. This symbolic day was preceded by the members’ general meeting, which confirmed that 2025 had been a challenging year but one that was ultimately brought under control.
Despite the discontinuation of the public subsidy for activities in the public interest—which is now limited to covering half of the dues owed to European and international standards organizations—the association reported a net loss. However, this situation was offset, among other factors, by the performance of its subsidiaries and its international network, enabling the group’s consolidated scope to close the 2025 fiscal year with a profit. This demonstration of resilience was praised by Guy Maugis and Olivier Peyrat, CEO of AFNOR, who nevertheless called for continued efforts in 2026 and beyond.
Reelected for a three-year term, Guy Maugis embodies AFNOR’s international ambition. A former president of Robert Bosch France, an advisor to the Executive Board of Robert Bosch GmbH, and currently a member of several European strategic bodies, he brings an industrial and Franco-German perspective aligned with the challenges of sovereignty, competitiveness, and the transformation of global markets. His role at the helm of the AFNOR Group strengthens the group’s ability to represent France’s perspective in global standardization bodies and to support companies in achieving the goals of France 2030 and Europe regarding the technological, environmental, and industrial standards of the future.

As part of this initiative, AFNOR is also publishing its 2025 Activity Report, which is now available. This document summarizes the group’s performance, the evolution of its international network, and the strategic directions that will guide AFNOR into its second century of existence. We invite all economic and institutional stakeholders to download it to better understand the challenges, results, and ambitions that shape the group’s international trajectory.
As it enters its second century, AFNOR reaffirms its mission: to promote voluntary international standards that support innovation, competitiveness, and sovereignty in global markets. This ambition is driven by strong governance, a growing international network, and a presidency firmly focused on the future.
