On January 21, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., AFNOR is organizing a seminar dedicated to the new ISO 14001, the international standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

This event is designed to help professionals and companies understand the main changes and prepare for the transition to the updated version of the standard.

ISO 14001, the globally recognized standard for environmental management systems, is currently undergoing revision: the new edition, which will be published in early 2026, will replace the current 2015 version; the transition for certified organizations is estimated to take two to three years from the final publication date.

Among the most significant changes:

  • Greater emphasis on global environmental challenges, such as climate resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable use of natural resources, reflecting emerging priorities in the economic and regulatory context.
  • Life cycle perspective (LCP), with clarification of the concept and a greater focus on the supply chain
  • Strengthened role of leadership and top management, with clearer responsibilities in environmental strategy and continuous performance improvement.
  • Greater emphasis on change management and a stronger focus on opportunities and risks
  • Definitive inclusion of the climate change addendum among the context and stakeholder factors.

ANNEX A was then revised to clarify the application of the standard.

The revision aims to maintain the current standard and bring it into line with new sustainability requirements, while limiting the introduction of new burdensome requirements, and offers an opportunity to improve operational efficiency, transparency, and environmental credibility.

The seminar will address these aspects in detail, providing a practical overview of the main changes and useful advice for planning the transition of your environmental management system.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn about regulatory trends and prepare for the future of environmental management!
