The benefits of an ISO 37001-certified management system are countless. Through certification, organizations proactively demonstrate that they are managing the risks of corruption, and develop a culture of transparency, compliance and integrity.

THE SCENARIO

The growing awareness and dissemination of the damage caused by corruption has prompted the definition of strategies and actions aimed at reducing its risk and impact, also taking into account the usefulness, in the face of the globalization of offences, of having a transnational regulatory tool to combat corruption.
ISO 37001 "Management systems for the prevention of corruption" is designed to help public and private organizations combat corruption by creating a culture of integrity, transparency and compliance.

This is the scenario in whichAFNOR Italia comes into play, extending its accreditation issued by Accredia for certification services to ISO 37001: 2016 - Management systems for the prevention of corruption, with Sopra Steria, a French multinational that ranks among Europe's leaders in digital services, software development and consulting in the digital transformation of companies and organizations.

AFNOR Italia invites you to find out more about certification using the concrete example of Sopra Steria Italia, represented by Carlo Mangiagalli, Director of Industrial Management at Sopra Steria Italia, who has been personally involved in the company's certification process.

Why did you decide to undertake the certification process?
CM: "There are two fundamental reasons for this choice.
First and foremost, business ethics: Sopra Steria is a company that bases its activities on principles of professional ethics, committed to promoting corporate social responsibility. Sustainable development is at the heart of every Sopra Steria action, which aims to have a positive impact on the economy, society and the environment.
In order to guarantee the conditions of fairness and transparency required by Legislative Decree no. 231 of June 8, 2001, Sopra Steria has implemented its own organization, management and control model, which has facilitated the adoption of ISO 37001 requirements.
The attention paid by its stakeholders to the prevention of corruption ultimately contributed to the decision to undertake the certification process; a further confirmation of Sopra Steria's commitment to its customers, suppliers, regulators, employees and partners."

THE BENEFITS OF AN ISO 37001-CERTIFIED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

By adopting UNI ISO 37001, you benefit from an internationally shared framework for identifying corruption risks, implementing risk prevention and control measures, and generally improving risk assessment. It also facilitates the process of compliance with local and international legal requirements and industry standards.

What were the main benefits of obtaining certification?
CM: "By obtaining such certification, we want to send out a very strong message: we don't compromise.
ImplementingISO 37001 facilitates cooperation based on mutual trust; we are convinced that the perception of the Sopra Steria brand by all stakeholders can improve further."

CERTIFIED COMMITMENTS

Certification is not a point of arrival. The standard requires a commitment to continuous improvement in company performance. The management system is a living thing, involving verification of the effectiveness of actions taken, data analysis, ongoing staff training, the adoption of corrective actions, the application of controls and the updating of risk assessments.

What do you think were the greatest challenges?
CM: "Sopra Steria Italia was the first country in the Group to embark on this path, pioneering a path that will be extended worldwide.
Thanks to the support of specialized consultants, we were able to facilitate the development of the management system.
What's more, the entire certification phase involved the whole organization, which experienced this journey positively, with a strong sense of commitment. "

THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS

WHY CHOOSE THE AFNOR GROUP?

Why did you choose AFNOR Group?
CM: "Sopra Steria's direct knowledge of the Group's operations, its expertise and the proximity of its resources led it to choose AFNOR, thus strengthening its partnership. For such a sensitive subject, we needed a company that could guarantee results and fully understand Sopra Steria's context."

Do you think AFNOR personally contributed to the success of the initiative?
